These help notes support schools wishing to migrate their assessment ticks from NC Writing 2017 to NC Writing 2018/19.

On 14 September 2017, the DfE released new Teacher Assessment frameworks for use in the academic year 2018/19.

Whilst Reading and Maths statements did not change, there were significant changes to the Writing framework:

* Several statements have been reworded

* Some Interim Teacher Assessment Framework statements have been removed (in grey in the tables below)

* Some new objectives have been added (in italics in the tables below).

Changes reflect a general shift in emphasis onto compositional skills and greater flexibility in assessing grammar and spelling (i.e. statements are broader and more generic).

In response to the changes, Pupil Asset have written a new NC Writing 2018/19 framework.
